Spokane Transfer & Storage Co. was founded in 1964 by Dale L. Ross and Lester E. Ross. In the early years, the Company provided moving and storage services in the state of Washington, with the emphasis on pack and crate contracts with Fairchild AFB.

In 1971 the company added general freight transportation, both less-than-truckload and truckload, to it's menu of services. About this time the company purchased property at 117 N. Napa, built a 10,000 square foot warehouse for storage and remodeled part of the old McKinley School building for office space. These facilities are still being used for storage and truck repair.

These early years were challenging, requiring the Company to try many things to grow with the industry and keep good people working full time. Increased emphasis on truckload and intermodal services led to the establishment of the first intermodal container storage yard in Spokane. In 1973, Lester Ross resigned and Dale L. Ross took over and recruited Doug, Dave, and Kent into the management team.

With deregulation taking effect in 1980, the Company was free to expand its service area. This resulted in increased emphasis on less-than-truckload and flatbed services. In 1985, Dale L. Ross retired after 50 years in the transportation industry and management was taken over by his sons; Doug, Dave, and Kent Ross.

As the Company grew, the leadership and the employees also matured and grew into a knowledgeable workforce with the skills to allow further growth although everyone still adheres to the philosophy of founding partner Dale Ross, "provide excellent service at a fair price". Starting with 3 old pieces of equipment in 1964, the Company now owns 39 tractors, 8 straight trucks and over 70 trailers. To accommodate this growth, a larger, 17 door terminal was purchased in 1991 and is now our headquarters. Our service area has increased to all points within a 150 mile radius of  Spokane. We have added two more terminals, one in Lewiston, Idaho another in Wenatchee, Washington.
